How we selected these firms
- The firm’s main program bills the evaluation once, not as a monthly subscription.
- Activation fees after passing are a separate filter and can still apply.
- Product-level billing overrides the firm value where a firm sells both models.
One-time vs monthly billing
There are two billing models. With a one-time fee you pay once and keep the evaluation until you pass, fail or hit a time limit. With a monthly (subscription) fee you pay again every 30 days until you pass or cancel.
45 of 78 firms (58%) bill the evaluation once. 13 firms bill monthly, all of them futures firms. This filter is about how you pay; whether there is a separate fee after passing is a different question, covered on the no-activation-fee page.
Worked example: what a slow pass costs
The cheapest monthly 50K product in our data is Topstep Trading Combine 50K: $49 per month plus a $149 activation fee. A typical (median-priced) one-time 50K futures product is Blue Guardian 50K Standard: $209 once.
The table shows the total depending on how many billing months you need. Monthly billing wins if you pass fast; one-time billing wins the longer it takes.

Time limits and one-time fees
A one-time fee often comes with no time limit in futures, but some forex and CFD evaluations still set one (for example 30 days per phase). Our table shows the time limit per product. With no limit, a one-time fee lets you trade the evaluation at your own pace.
Resets and retries
If you fail a one-time evaluation you buy a new one or pay a reset fee, which is often cheaper than the full price. With monthly billing a reset is sometimes included at the next renewal. Check the reset fee on the firm page.
FAQ
Is a one-time evaluation fee better than a monthly one?
It is cheaper the longer you take to pass. A monthly subscription can be cheaper if you pass in the first month. Compare the total for the number of months you expect to need.
Do one-time evaluations expire?
Some do. Many futures evaluations have no time limit, while some forex and CFD evaluations set one per phase. Check the time limit column.
Does a one-time fee mean no other costs?
No. Activation fees, data fees and reset fees can still apply. The cost-to-get-funded figure adds the activation fee.
Can I cancel a monthly evaluation?
Usually yes, before the next renewal date, and you keep access until the end of the paid month. Rules differ per firm.
