How we selected these firms
- Drawdown is static or end-of-day trailing (not trailing intraday) in the evaluation and, where the firm publishes a separate funded rule, on the funded account too, so open profit you give back does not shrink the account.
- No hard daily loss limit: either no daily limit at all, or a soft one that pauses trading instead of failing the account.
- Profit target at most 1.5 times the maximum drawdown (accounts with no target count as passing this rule).
- No consistency rule that blocks payouts on the funded account (verified funded consistency of 0% and no “blocks payout” rule).
- Clear costs: activation fee and minimum trading days are published.
Unverified values fail a criterion. A firm can therefore be missing simply because a rule is not published.
Why these five rules
Most beginners do not fail on the profit target; they fail on the drawdown. A trailing intraday drawdown punishes the most common beginner pattern (letting a winner turn into a loser), and a hard daily loss limit ends the account on one emotional day. Those two rules matter more than the price.
A low target relative to the drawdown means you need fewer good days for each unit of risk. And a payout-blocking consistency rule is the most common reason funded beginners are surprised at their first payout request, so we exclude it.
Qualifying products, best value per unit of risk first
One product per firm: the one that meets every criterion with the lowest cost to get funded per $1,000 of maximum drawdown, so a small account is not ranked above a larger one just for being small. Cost to get funded = evaluation (x2 when monthly) + activation.

What beginners should still check
Even on a forgiving account, these points catch new traders out:
- The funded account can have different rules from the evaluation (drawdown, consistency, payout buffer).
- Commissions per contract or per lot reduce your net profit; small accounts feel them most.
- Use the micro contracts (futures) or small lot sizes until you know your average loss per day.
- Decide in advance how many attempts you will buy, and stop there.
FAQ
What is the best prop firm for beginners?
There is no single best firm, but some products are more forgiving. The table lists firms whose products meet all five criteria, lowest cost per $1,000 of drawdown first.
Should beginners start with futures or forex?
Either works. Futures prop accounts are often cheaper with EOD drawdown; forex accounts usually have static drawdown with a daily limit. Our guide compares the two.
Is a cheaper account better for a beginner?
A cheaper account lets you learn the rules for less money, but rules matter more than price. A forgiving drawdown model is worth more than a small discount.
How many attempts does it take to pass?
There is no reliable public statistic across firms, and firm-published pass rates are not comparable. Budget for more than one attempt and treat the first as tuition.
