What swing trading needs from a prop firm
Swing trading means holding positions for days, not minutes. That needs three permissions at the same firm: overnight holding, weekend holding and enough time. A firm that closes everything at the end of each session, or that forbids weekend positions, rules itself out.
Only firms that allow both overnight and weekend holding on their main program are on this page: 37 of 78. Futures firms are mostly intraday-only: 22 of 28 futures firms require you to be flat at the end of the session.

What to check before you hold a trade for days
The permission is only the start:
- Swap fees: holding positions overnight can cost swap or financing fees unless the account is swap-free (the table shows what we verified).
- Weekend gaps: price can open well away from Friday’s close, and a gap can breach the drawdown or daily limit in one step.
- Time limits: an evaluation with a deadline and a minimum number of trading days can force a swing trader to speed up.
- News windows: some firms restrict positions around high-impact releases even when news trading is allowed.
- Funded-account rules: holding rules sometimes differ between the evaluation and the funded account.
