How we selected these firms

Intraday-only vs overnight accounts
28 of 78 firms (36%) let you hold overnight on their main program. 22 firms require you to be flat at the end of each session (all of them futures firms), and 6 allow it only with conditions, such as smaller size or certain programs.
On an intraday-only account the firm closes any open position at a fixed time before the daily close. For a day trader that changes little. For a swing trader it rules the firm out.
Futures: the daily close and the flatten time
CME equity index futures trade almost 24 hours on weekdays, with a short daily maintenance break in the late afternoon (U.S. Central time). Most futures prop firms that forbid overnight positions set a “flat by” time shortly before that break and auto-liquidate anything still open. If you trade late in the session, know that cut-off exactly.

FAQ
Do futures prop firms allow overnight positions?
Some do, but many futures firms require you to be flat before the daily close and auto-liquidate open positions. The table shows which futures firms allow holding.
Does overnight holding include weekends?
Not necessarily. Weekend holding is a separate permission; a firm can allow overnight positions and still require you to close before Friday’s close.
What time do I have to be flat on an intraday-only account?
Each firm sets its own cut-off, usually shortly before the daily session close. The exact time is in the firm’s rules, linked from the firm page.
Do overnight losses count against the daily loss limit?
They count against the trading day in which they are realised or marked, which depends on the firm’s day definition. A gap at the open usually counts toward the new day.
