What an activation fee is
An activation fee is a one-time charge (at a few firms a monthly one) to turn a passed evaluation into a funded account. It is due after you pass, so the advertised evaluation price is not the full price of getting funded.
17 of 78 firms (22%) charge no activation fee on their main program. Among futures firms that do charge one at the 100K size, the fees we verified run from $120 to $259.
Worked example: 100K futures, evaluation plus activation
Traders Launch Legacy NYC 100K (80% split) costs $99 with no activation fee, so the cost to get funded is $99.
Funded Futures Network 100K MAX Standard lists $348 plus a $120 activation fee: $468 in total.
A low evaluation price with a high activation fee can cost more than a pricier evaluation with none. The cost-to-get-funded column in our tables adds both for you.

No activation fee is not the whole story
Some firms without an activation fee charge in other ways: a monthly evaluation, a monthly data fee, a reset fee, or a lower profit split on the first payouts. Others offer a “no activation fee” version of a plan at a higher evaluation price. Compare the total, not one line.
FAQ
What is a prop firm activation fee?
A one-time (sometimes monthly) charge to activate the funded account after you pass the evaluation. It is paid on top of the evaluation price.
Is a firm with no activation fee always cheaper?
No. A higher evaluation price, a monthly subscription or a data fee can outweigh the saving. Compare the cost to get funded, which adds the evaluation and any activation fee.
Can a firm have no activation fee on some plans and a fee on others?
Yes. Several firms sell plan versions with and without an activation fee. This list uses the firm’s main program; open a row in the table to see each product.
Is the activation fee refunded?
Rarely. Some firms refund the evaluation fee with the first payout, but activation fees are usually not refundable. Check the refund rule on the firm page.
