Prop firm red flags to watch for
Most firms are legitimate businesses, but the industry has seen closures and disputes. These are signals worth a second look.
Warning signs
Treat these as reasons to slow down:
- Rules that are hard to find or that change without notice.
- Fees that only appear at checkout or after you pass.
- Guaranteed-income or “easy money” marketing.
- No clear company or legal entity information.
- Payout complaints that are consistent over time, not a few outliers.
- Large discounts that are permanent (the “real” price is the discounted price).
How we handle changes
Our nightly checks flag firms whose rule text changed and put them under review rather than quietly editing them. Look for the “Rules under review” badge.
Protect yourself
Never put in money you cannot afford to lose, keep records of your trades and payout requests, and read the rules page again whenever you start a new account.
