Quick take: At 50K, Savius · One Step Evaluation · One Step Fixed EOD is the cheapest to get funded: $79 ($79 evaluation, no activation fee, list prices). At 50K, FundedNext Futures · Flex has the lowest total profit target across all phases ($2,500).

How to read this table: rows are sorted by the cost to get funded at the selected size, i.e. the evaluation fee (2 months for monthly subscriptions) plus any activation fee, at list prices; promo codes never change the order. “/mo” marks a monthly subscription. Tap “Details & all sizes” on a row to see every size and the rules. Badges only appear when the underlying figure is verified.

This page shows the 25 products with the lowest cost to get funded at 50K (of 57 that match). Filters and sorting here apply to these 25. Compare all of them in the full table: Futures (18 firms) · Forex & CFD (1 firm)

How we selected these firms

  • The firm allows news trading on its main program, per its own rules.
  • Firms that restrict news only on the funded account are still included; read the firm page for funded rules.
  • Unverified firms are left out.

What “news trading allowed” means

High-impact releases such as the Federal Reserve’s rate decisions (FOMC), the U.S. jobs report (non-farm payrolls, NFP) and CPI inflation can move prices sharply within seconds. Many prop firms ban opening or closing trades in a window around these events, at least on funded accounts, because fills are erratic and spreads widen.

19 of 78 firms (24%) allow news trading on their main program. 9 prohibit it and 18 have not published a clear rule we could verify.

The release calendar is public

The FOMC meets eight times a year on a schedule the Federal Reserve publishes in advance, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes the release dates of the jobs report. Firms that restrict news usually point to an economic calendar and name the “tier 1” events they mean.

Restriction windows we have verified

Some firms allow news trading but still block a few minutes before and after a release. 13 of the firms on this page have verified no window in either phase; these 3 have one in at least one phase. “None” means no window in that phase.

Worked example: slippage on a news candle

Take Tradeify Select 50K (50% Consistency): $2,000 maximum drawdown. One E-mini S&P 500 (ES) contract moves $50 per index point (CME Group).

You hold one ES contract into a release with an 8-point stop: a planned loss of $400 (20% of the drawdown). If the stop fills 4 points worse in a fast market, the loss is $600, or 30% of the drawdown on a single trade. With the Micro contract (MES, $5 per point) the same move costs $60.

Allowed is not the same as sensible. If you trade news on an evaluation, size down so that a bad fill cannot take more than a small slice of the drawdown.

Check the funded-account rule

Several firms allow news trading in the evaluation but restrict it on the funded account, or only on simulated-funded accounts. Profits made inside a restricted window can be removed before a payout even when the trade itself was allowed. The firm page lists the rule we verified and its source.

FAQ

Which news events do prop firms restrict?

Usually the highest-impact scheduled releases: FOMC rate decisions, non-farm payrolls (NFP) and CPI, and sometimes other “tier 1” events from an economic calendar the firm names.

Can I hold a trade through news if I opened it earlier?

It depends on the firm. Some only ban opening and closing trades inside the window; others ask you to be flat. Read the exact wording on the firm page.

Is news trading allowed on funded accounts?

Not always. Some firms allow it on the evaluation and restrict it on funded or simulated-funded accounts. Profits from a restricted window can be deducted at payout time.

Why do firms restrict news trading?

Fills during big releases are unpredictable and spreads widen, which makes simulated results unrealistic. Firms also want to avoid paying out profits that a real market would not have filled.
