How 1-step futures evaluations work
Almost every futures prop evaluation is a single phase: reach the profit target without hitting the drawdown (and the daily limit, if any), trade the minimum number of days, and you move to a funded account. Two-step evaluations, common in forex, are rare in futures.
At 50K, the median target-to-drawdown ratio is 1.5 : 1 across 62 products.

1-step vs instant funding in futures
Instant (“straight to funded”) futures accounts skip the evaluation but usually cost more, have smaller drawdowns relative to size and stricter payout rules. A 1-step evaluation is cheaper per dollar of drawdown and lets you prove the strategy before the payout rules apply.
FAQ
Are there 2-step futures prop firms?
Very few. Futures firms almost always use a single evaluation phase; 2-step programs are typical of forex and CFD firms.
How long does a 1-step futures evaluation take?
Most futures evaluations have no time limit and a minimum of a few trading days. How long it takes depends on the target and your trading.
Is a 1-step evaluation easier than 2-step?
It has one target instead of two, but the single target is usually larger. Compare the target-to-drawdown ratio.
What happens after I pass?
You get a funded (usually simulated) account with its own rules: payout buffer, consistency and sometimes a different drawdown.
