What firms restrict when they restrict scalping
Very few firms ban short-term trading as such. What they restrict is trading that exploits the simulated environment: trades held for a few seconds, high-frequency strategies, latency arbitrage and trading the price spike at news releases. The common tool is a minimum trade duration, or a rule that most of your profit must come from trades held longer than a set time.

Scalping costs more per trade
Every round turn pays commission, and scalpers make many of them. On futures a round-turn commission on one micro contract is small, but at dozens of trades per day it adds up to a meaningful share of a small drawdown. Check the commission column on each firm page.
FAQ
Do prop firms allow scalping?
Most allow some form of it. 9 firms in our data allow it explicitly; many others set a minimum hold time or ban specific very-short-term strategies.
What is a minimum trade duration rule?
A rule that trades must stay open for at least a set time (for example 30 or 60 seconds). Profit from shorter trades may not count.
Is high-frequency trading allowed?
Almost never. HFT, latency arbitrage and tick scalping are banned at nearly every firm, including firms that allow scalping.
Can I scalp news releases?
